It is refreshing to see a story about Israel including the preposition “anti” that is actually not against Israel, but rather “for” Israel. You see, stories glorifying BDS, a Boycott, Divestment, Sanction movement directed solely at the only Jewish nation in the world, are by nature anti-Israel, anti-Zionist, and even anti-Semitic.
So when you read a headline that says “anti-BDS”, sit up and take notice. Something out of the ordinary is about to happen. In this case, according to the Jerusalem Post, May 19, 2015, “Laurie Cardoza-Moore, the head Proclaiming Justice to the Nations, a Christian-Zionist group, was in Israel this week filming segments for a film about the BDS movement in an attempt to show what she believes is “farce of BDS.” The film, starring comic Brad Stein will be a satire exploring the effects of BDS on not only Israel, but Palestinians as well.
We say congratulations to Ms. Cardoza-Moore for going against the grain to prove that Israel is being held to a double standard regarding human rights. Israel is constantly singled out by the BDS movement despite having the best human rights record of any nation in the Middle East.
“BDS is absolutely anti-Semitism and is rooted in anti-Semitism, and its goal is to delegitimize Israel’s right to exist and ultimately to dehumanize the Jews,” she said. Her goal is to have her film reach 200 countries and 900 million households worldwide with her message.
She was also involved in efforts to promote anti-BDS legislation. Illinois lawmakers recently passed a bill that bars state pension funds from investing in companies that participate in a BDS campaign against Israel. The bill passed the state’s House and Senate unanimously and is awaiting the expected signature of Gov. Bruce Rauner. Illinois would be the first state to legislate against BDS.
As believers living in the Land, we would be happy with whoever would try to make a film like this, but Cardoza-Moore is a Christian Zionist, and that makes us doubly proud to see Christians continue to support and bless Israel.
