CNN Calls Terror Attack “Bus Fire”

CNN is famous for blaming the Jewish victims when it comes to terror attacks in Israel. Last October, when Hamas operatives sought to board an Israeli school bus, CNN reported “PALESTINIANS SHOT BOARDING KIDS’ BUS“, giving the impression that the Palestinians were attacked as opposed to prevented from killing children.

This appears to be policy with CNN, as they did the same thing not long ago with another knife attack. Of course after enough complaints they always correct the headline. After millions have already seen the misleading headline. Either they are stupid or anti-Israel—those are the only two options.

And now there’s the bus bombing yesterday in Jerusalem. CNN’s initial headline was “Jerusalem Bus Fire Injures 21, Police Say.”

Of course it was not yet known for sure that it was a terror attack—CNN will no doubt claim. The only problem, as documented by Honest Reporting, is that the CNN twitter feed had already presented the fire for what it was—a terrorist attack. You can see that the tweet was from last night at 9:44 PM and the CNN headline was still up this morning as of 5:42 AM.

Sadly, this is par for the course and CNN is not alone, as CBS and BBC have made similar ‘mistakes.’ As noted, while they always correct the distorted headline some time later, the damage is done as most people don’t return to the same story. In October, two Palestinian terrorists who went on a shooting and stabbing rampage. Three Israelis were murdered, but TIME Magazine presented the terrorists as victims because Israeli forces shot them, killing one. KNI reported on this.

The original version of the article made no mention of the dead and wounded victims of the unprovoked attack, instead the headline was titled, “The Desperation Driving Young Palestinians to Violence,” and with not so subtle affinity referred to the killed terrorist as “a graphic designer who was killed by Israeli security forces after allegedly trying to carry out an attack in Jerusalem.”

It took TIME five months to respond to the outrage over their reporting. They made minor changes, without apology.

Honest Reporting encouraged their readers to contact CNN:

Israel implements security measures specifically to help prevent these kind of attacks. Yet if news readers don’t even know that attacks are taking place, then news sources can easily misrepresent Israel’s efforts to protect its people as unreasonable or even excessive.

Which is why it is so important to hold CNN to account. Please send your considered comments to CNN by clicking on this link and filling out their feedback form.

KNI would also like to encourage our readers to respond even after the fact to let them know that this is unacceptable journalism.
