In this short blog entry, I would like to conclude the series of blogs on Israel’s rejection. It is clear that anyone who rejects Israel today because of a false belief that Israel is responsible for the death of our Messiah, Yeshua, is in essence believing the lie of the enemy.
We are all responsible for His death, Jew and Gentile alike; our inequities put Yeshua on the tree to die the shameful death of a criminal. He chose to lay down His life for each one of us; no one took it from Him.
The great news, however, is that although our sin caused His death, each one of us can now rejoice in His resurrection, which brought us new life!
Messiah first offered salvation to the Jew. (Romans 1:16) However, because Israel rejected Him the first time He came, salvation was extended to the Nations! God revealed His wondrous plan of salvation for the entire world, Jew and Gentile alike.
God’s call for the Jewish people is to testify of Him by being set apart, and also by being a light to the nations; the only way that we, the Jewish people, can fulfill this call is through faith in Yeshua, the ultimate light of the world.
God’s call for the Nations (Gentiles) is to provoke the Jewish people to jealousy through their faith in the Messiah, in order that they will return to God! The only way that the Nations will be able to do this is by surrendering to God and His will, and by accepting His Son.
My dear reader, please understand that Messiah’s return is dependent on Israel accepting Him! Yeshua himself spoke this prophecy over Jerusalem in Matthew 23:37-9:
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
I implore each of us to be active in the role that God Almighty determined for us. Let us join together as Jew and Gentile alike in fulfilling the call by which God has called us!
