It’s a very special moment in Israel’s history. On the eve of Rosh Hashana, the traditional Jewish New Year and the the Biblical Feast of Trumpets, Shimon Peres is being laid to rest. The last living “Father of Israel”; one who was involved in its birth has died and with his passing, it seems that a truly new era is upon this nation.
Shimon Peres was born August 2, 1923 in Wiszniew, Poland, (today a part of Belarus). His father Yitzhak was a radical Zionist who emigrated to Israel in 1932. All of Peres’ relatives who remained in Wiszniew in 1941 were murdered during the Holocaust.
The entire city of Jerusalem and surrounding areas are at a stand still as the nation devotes this day to the burial and remembrance of this elder statesman, former Prime Minister and President. Over eighty dignitaries from around the world have come to participate in his funeral. Israel, a tiny nation of 8 million people, one of the smallest nations in the world has drawn world leaders from throughout the earth to this city to honor a man who helped birth this Jewish nation. As God promised, this nation has and will continue to have a profound impact on world history and God’s coming Kingdom.
We at Zion’s Glory want to express our deep appreciation for all Mr. Peres gave to the establishment of this nation and the devotion of his life in building it and helping to bring it to the wonderful place that it is in today.
Personal Note
On a personal note, I want to share great news with all of you who have stood with Jackie and me as we have walked through the most difficult fourteen months of our life. We will never stop expressing our deep love and and appreciation for your love and support during this time.
I underwent another MRI of my brain last week and the doctor once again confirmed that my brain is CANCER FREE! He also gave us permission to lengthen the time period for future MRI’s of my brain from every two months to three.
As all of you know, I had a second bout with cancer in my tonsil and lymph gland. We finished the long and difficult treatments and I am experiencing amazingly rapid recovery. I am eating regular food, gaining weight and energy and living a busy life building God’s Kingdom. The actual “official” confirmation of this certain fact will happen in another two months following a PET Scan.
Please continue to agree with us in prayer that I am totally cancer free and that the wonderful and future calling that God has for our life will open in the wonder of his power and love. Our desire is just to be faithful servants of our God and His Messiah, Yeshua.
And finally we want to wish you a Happy and Blessed Jewish New Year. Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets which today has become the Jewish New Year is a mighty prophetic time as it ushers in the season of the Fall Feasts, including the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.
According to the Bible, this is a day that is to be devoted to the sounding of the Shofar. As this prophetic instrument is sounded throughout Israel and the Jewish World, may we take time to remember and thank God for all that has been- for all his mighty victories then and now and may our hearts burst with excitement and anticipation as we look ahead to that “last and great trumpet blast” when Yeshua returns to establish His kingdom on this earth.
May the Year 5777 be wonderful and blessed in your life and in the lives of those you love.
