“Without a vision the people cast off restraint.” – Proverbs 29:18
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.” – Isaiah 5:20
Winston Churchill was a man disliked by many. He was mocked as a warmonger, and worse. But had the English Parliament listened to him the world may have been spared the slaughter of some sixty million people, as Hitler would have been stopped early. But those dreamers such as Chamberlain and his party who would appease evil opposed Churchill, and helped precipitate the horrors of World War II.
Through some trick of legerdemain or skullduggery, words have lost their meaning. “Illegal” has become synonymous with “legal”. But when illegal becomes legal one has arrived at a state of lawlessness, which leads to chaos, and chaos to a clamping down and a loss of freedom. Lawlessness in the Greek New Testament is anomia, the word that describes the Antichrist, “the man of lawlessness” (2 Thess. 2). In the Hebrew Torah the word for a lawless one is bilial (bli ol), unyoked, without the yoke of the Law, outlaws. The word “gay”, which had always meant happy, now is synonymous with homosexual, as is the rainbow, formerly God’s sign of the covenant after the destruction of a sinful world in a flood. “Pride” was once a meaningful word, now describing the position of homosexuals of themselves, and “marriage” has been redefined to include people of the same sex. One might question what exactly is to be “proud” of there. Also, the roles and distinctions of male and female have been perverted to an obscurity, defying nature. “Pride comes before a fall” the Bible tells us.
When good is called evil and evil becomes good, and perversion is called normal, a fog of confusion covers the eyes of a population. Like the Tower of Babel, there is confusion of tongues and understanding one the other becomes shattered beneath a breakdown in communication, a paralyzing of society and government, and a general loss of trust in authority. There are immutable laws that cannot be broken with impunity, without consequences.
As with Churchill, those who would speak out about dangers to society are often themselves spoken against. But those with a clear vision must nevertheless speak out. When the very foundations of civilization are being undermined and eroded, we must not remain silent. When the values and building blocks of civilization are removed a vacuum is created in which their antithesis will fill. If forces known to hold an agenda to undermine and supplant the nation’s historical foundation are naively welcomed in, the long term results may be catastrophic.
As was told to Ezekiel the prophet, “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.” (Ezekiel 3) We must by all means attempt to “strengthen the things that remain that were about to die” (Revelation 3:2) for we may be at times the salt, rather than the sugar, of the earth.
