New Government Initiative to Promote Tourism in Jerusalem

With the recent wave of terrorism that has plagued Israel and specifically Jerusalem, the Israel Finance Ministry allocated NIS 100 million to assist business owners who needed loans following the lull in tourism.  The campaign has had very positive results as the Culture and Tourism Ministry as well as the Jerusalem Development Authority in conjunction with the Jerusalem municipality have already been able to use NIS 20 million to launch and oversee the tourism initiative.

Jerusalem, Israel’s eternal capital has received much support from the mayor Nir Barkat as well as the tourism director Ilanit Melchior who have seen the numbers of tourists increase since promoting cultural events, festivals and offering special packages for hotels and restaurants.  They are happy to report that despite the sensitive security situation, thousands of visitors have come from all over the world as a result of the campaign and this has strengthened and supported businesses in Jerusalem.
