Praise be to God: Health Update from Pastor Eddie Santoro

I want to share an update on my current health situation that Jackie, my wife, and I are walking through together. For 36 years we have been “one flesh” so obviously this is “our” battle and will be “our” victory.

Many of you who have been reading my updates know that on August 8, I was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Four days later I underwent a complex operation to remove the tumor. The doctors gave us a long list of possible serious consequences but “PRAISE BE TO GOD” I recovered and my mental, physical and emotional condition is practically normal.

After much prayer, we felt to follow all of the doctor’s advice for treatment and to believe that God would use the medical system, along with the amazing power and authority of His Word, His death and resurrection and His unfailing great love to heal me.

On October 7th I started the treatment consisting of 42 consecutive days of chemotherapy and 28 radiation treatments. We are now over halfway done and PRAISE BE TO GOD, I am doing well. My energy is good and my body is functioning normally.

Every Sunday through Thursday morning, we go to the local hospital for the radiation treatment. We are often there several hours. It is a very unique atmosphere and we have had numerous opportunities to share the love of God with staff and other patients. Our evenings are spent with long periods of listening to his Word, declaring His promises and much intercessory prayer before taking the chemo medication.

During this period, God has been doing a deep and personal work in us. This health challenge is unlike anything that we have faced in nearly 39 years as believers and God is changing us in significant ways. We feel closer to Him than at any other time in our life. As difficult as the current situation is, our confidence is in Him, and we can truly declare that “GOD IS WORKING ALL THINGS TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD!”

In addition to all this, the love and support from our congregation, Ahavat Yeshua has been overwhelming. Their encouragement, prayer and physical support during this period is truly a testimony of God’s love. Something wonderful is being deeply worked in the life of the congregation as we walk through this personal trial.

And finally your love and support over this period has been a blessing and a tremendous personal encouragement. The number of letters and calls coupled with the flood of ongoing prayer before the throne of God is most certainly transforming the reality that we are walking through. Our hearts are filled with hope and expectation.

We want to encourage you to keep on praying. I have nineteen more chemo treatments and ten radiation treatments still before me. Pray that God would direct these treatments to destroy every cancer cell in my body- never to return and that as the scripture declares; “and when they drink deadly poison (chemo) it will not hurt them at all” (Mark 16:18) and “when you walk through the fire (radiation), you will not be burned.” (Is 43:2) Please pray that I would continue to pass through the next few weeks with no negative effects in my body. And of course continue to pray and declare God’s complete healing. He has destroyed the works of the enemy and by His stripes I am healed.

We thank you so much for the part you are playing in this. There is no doubt in our hearts that God’s grace is sufficient and that we will continue to see the glory of our God manifest in my physical body, in the body in Israel and throughout the world.
