Report: Drone that infiltrated Israeli airspace in July was Russian

A drone from Syria that entered Israeli airspace in July was in fact a Russian drone, contradicting reports that the drone was either sent by Assad’s regime or Hezbollah.

Reports that the UAV was in fact a Russian drone were released on Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly notifying Prime Minister Netanyahu that the drone’s entry into Israel’s airspace was a result of “human error” and an accident.

On July 18th, the IDF launched two Patriot missiles at the UVA, the launch missing the drone and the UAV returning to Syria. The IDF Spokespersons Unit stated confirmed the incident, stating “Two Patriot air defense missiles were fired toward a drone which infiltrated Israeli airspace in the central Golan Heights. The drone returned to Syria. The IDF will not tolerate a breach of the State of Israel’s sovereignty.”

The drone entered Israeli territory during IDF military drills in northern Israel at the time.
