Sharing my testimony of Yeshua, the light of the world, to the sick

Eddie sharing his story with those in the hospital waiting room

The scripture declares that God works all things to the good for those that love him and are called according to his purpose. Sometimes when we are in the midst of very difficult challenges, it is hard to apply that scripture. But if we want to walk in victory and receive all that God has for us, we need to see things according to his word and his promises, and not according to our feelings at that moment. So I say it again, God works all things to the good in my life and in yours.

This thought relates to the most challenging time I have ever walked through- the battle with cancer. In so many ways, I can see how God has worked this battle to the good. I am not the same person that I was before. Thank you, Lord!

Now on with today’s story.

One of the fruits that God has developed in my life as we have walked through this chapter is a new boldness to share the gospel. Dealing with the reality of cancer has caused me to realize how precious are the days of our lives. They are so finite in number! And so I have determined to make the most of each one and to tell of the love of Yeshua with as many as possible.

We still go to the doctors for check ups periodically. We generally wait for hours in a crowded waiting room but because of the long wait, we have been able to share and pray for many people over the years.

Often, I have looked at the crowded waiting room and imagined myself standing up and proclaiming the love, power and glory of Yeshua before all those people. Last week as I sat there waiting, the same desire to proclaim His name to everyone was present in my heart. But I chalked it up as an unrealistic thought!

Just then, a very religious woman came into the room with a cart filled with snacks and drinks and other things that she gives away for free to those waiting. She has done this for many years and is very vocal about her love and gratitude to God. I have often spoken with her and at various times I have shared my story with her. This day I greeted her and taking some food, I once again gave God glory for my healing and related it to the wonder and power of knowing Yeshua.

Suddenly she stopped me, and said that everyone needed to hear my story and would I be willing to share it with those waiting there? With a big smile, I said “YES, OF COURSE!!!” She then stepped into the center of the room, called for everyone’s attention and said in a strong voice that they NEEDED to listen to my story!

Everyone there knows and appreciates her and so when she made that announcement, all eyes turned to me!

Without hesitating, I stepped into the center of the room and began sharing my story. I spoke for about 5-6 minutes, and gave God glory for the healing of the two cases of cancer. Towards the end, I lifted up the wonder of God in Yeshua. As I spoke, the room was quiet and everyone was listening. Orthodox Jews in black, Moslems, Christians and secular Israelis all heard the good news of Yeshua.

When I finished, she started clapping her hands and others joined in! I returned to my seat with joy and amazement overflowing in my heart. Both Jackie and I could hardly believe what had just happened!

On that day, a very ultra orthodox woman had invited Eddie, a Messianic Jew, to share my testimony of Yeshua with a crowd of people in an Israeli hospital waiting room! It had been the desire of my heart but I couldn’t do it in the natural! God is beyond!

On that day, we rejoiced that God was glorified, that we had been the light of the world and so many heard the testimony of Yeshua our Messiah.

And on that day, we knew that this was just the beginning!

It is my prayer that each of us would be encouraged by my story to go forth in faith and boldness. May our days be filled with the life of God pouring out of us onto others. We each have the highest calling possible- to be the Light of Yeshua to a dying world. May we rise up in this day and let His light shine.
