“May God give to you the dew of heaven and the richness of the earth, an abundance of grain and new wine.” – Genesis 27:28
David and I take or daily walk each morning at about 6 am, up and down the mountain, including 100 stairs. You can really get a good work out living on a mountain. As I walk, I can feel the humidity, and it makes my walk more difficult and tiring. As I walk I see that the top of the cars parked on the side of the road have a lot of moisture from the dew sitting on the horizontal surfaces. Apart from the fact that the humidity causes my hands to swell when I walk, and it gives the plants and trees a refreshing evening drink after a sizzling hot day, I don’t usually think too much more about the humidity.
Now I remember that I read an article a few years ago, that stated 20% of Israel’s water supply comes from summer dew. As most of you know, Israel does usually not have any rain from April until October, usually not one drop. And although it is not the season for rain, we know God can still water this land, during this time, but just in a different form. I see His provision for the supply of water for this dry and thirsty land during the hot summer months, and it comes from the night dew. So I don’t think I will complain about the humidity anymore, instead I will see it as a blessing, and know that each day that comes with high humidity, means the trees and plants in Israel are getting watered long after the sun has set. Thank you Adonai.
Dew comes between midnight and morning – it is an atmospheric vapor condensing into small drops on cool surfaces between nightfall and morning. In Song of Songs 5 it says, The voice of You, the beloved, comes in the night – for when I sleep my heart is awake and you come with the dew on your head.
As the Lord allows the natural dew to fall on the soil of the land of Israel during the night, let us pray that the heavenly dew will come and drop on the soil of the hearts of the people of Israel in the night season, to spiritually refresh and awaken their hearts to their Beloved Messiah.
The Lord said we would be a land that would drink from the rain of heaven. We do not deserve water, but because of His never ending mercies, and His covenant, He gives us and He gives nature all the water that we desperately need during these very hot summer months.
By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding He set the heavens in place, by His knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the heavens drop the dew. – Proverbs 3:19,20
My root is spread out to the waters, And dew lies all night on my branch. – Job 26:19
He will come to us like the rain. – Hosea 6:3
His eyes on this nation, from the morning until the evening, and from the beginning of the year until the end of the year. – Deuteronomy 11:12
There’s a brilliant documentary Made in Israel created and produced by CBN. This link is to the water part of that documentary series. If you go into the link at 3.03, there will be a heading Tal-Yah “Gods Dew” it will show you the ingenious innovation Israel made to effectively collect the dew. However, watch the whole link, as you will be very blessed. To view all the parts of the documentary you can get them on YouTube.
Note from David: Josie’s comment is focused on the promises of GOD’s provision of the Dew to the nation of Israel. I just want to add that because you have accepted the King of the Jews as your Messiah, bringing yourself into a blood sealed salvation covenant with the GOD of Israel, you are now grafted into the Olive Tree (Israel – Romans 11:17), you can also claim and expect to see the promises of GOD’s provision over your lives.
