The race of the sexes

Why such fascination, nay, obsession, with the sexes? It is the daily fare of every newspaper, forever drawing interest in all its forms and scandals. It is the one universal subject that when raised brings a blush to the face and a smile, if not a giggle, to all humankind.

It is the fundamental life-force seeking the other, and the innate drive to move from singularity and solitude to a mystical and physical oneness, and the very matrix of love for the other. It is all health at its supreme expression, the reaching out to find the exact opposite as Life in the pursuit and craving of Life, for both man and beast. In humankind it is the divine life-force driven by God in procreation and pleasurable multiplication of the image of God. The man and the woman in dynamic complement and tension, in contrast and counterpoint, is the quintessential expression of the love of God, an idea not dreamed up by the lusts of humankind, but emanating from the Creator Himself.

Therefore, its perversion is the counterfeit, the opposite of all that is divine, and a mere self-love. The perversion is the impossible lust to mate with oneself, and manifest only in a perverse union not with the other, but with one’s own likeness and reflection, as Narcissus. It bears no life, and cannot by the very design, and is the end of procreation, and thus the end of life. Therein the sin brews its own punishment, a capital crime in divine writ and law, and ultimately the end of health for family and civilization. The tampering with the designed workings of the universe and nature, and the re-definition of that which is thus sacrosanct, derives no benefit or satisfaction but for a moment, whereas its long-term detrimental consequence is worthy to be considered, and avoided.
