As I walked by one of the religious Jewish Israeli synagogues in my Jerusalem neighborhood this last Shabbat in the late afternoon I heard the men inside crying out to God. And I knew in my spirit that they were crying out to Him, asking Him why they were having all these problems come upon them and upon their land of Israel. And I immediately saw the answer. It is because our people, Israel, have denied their God, their Savior, and their Messiah, who had shed His Blood and died for all their sins. That is why all these problems have now come upon them and upon Israel.
We regularly read and quote from 2 Chronicles 7:13, 14, “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
For us as God’s Jewish people to deny the God of Israel as our Savior who died for all our sins is truly Israel’s wicked ways!
Then I had this idea. We have the Power! We now have over 300 Congregations in Israel made up of over 200 Jewish, and perhaps a 100 Arab, and dozens of English speaking and many international congregations. We have over 30,000 believers in the Messiah living in Israel.
What if we, as a united collective Body of believers in Israel would begin to cry aloud together in repentance, collectively raising up a cry of Repentance to the God of Israel for our sins of denying our God and Savior and Messiah, who died for us, for all of our sins. What if this Cry would really catch on among us? What if we really got serious, we really got behind this cry of
Repentance to God asking the God of Israel to truly hear and forgive us for this Great Sin of denying what He has done for us?
With all the congregations getting behind this cry of repentance to God for Israel’s national sin, this could truly build into a great momentum, especially with God’s help, to perhaps even affect the whole nation. We have absolutely nothing to lose by asking every pastor and congregational leader and believing member in Israel to begin doing this, to cry out for our nation for repentance to God for denying what our own God had done for us, as our Messiah, by dying for all our sins.
But the only way to really get this to work will be if all of us do our part, unite together to get this accomplished. It will take all of us telling our pastors and our friends to join in. It will take all of us.
