Yoav lived a surfer’s dream, but that was nothing compared to what he found. That peace hasn’t left him till this day.
I just wanted to devour the world. I tried all sorts of drugs, parties, but there was always this voice inside telling me “You don’t belong here anymore.”
When I was in the army, there was a soldier girl that I noticed…I knew that she believed in something but I didn’t know exactly what it was. I’d sit alone, on the bench. A approached her and we started talking. She talked about Yeshua, God…and from that conversation…it was like someone put their hand deep, deep inside me and flicked a switch from ‘off’ to ‘on’. And that drew me to this girl and just out of curiosity I asked her to bring me the New Testament.
As a Jew, you can believe in whatever you like. You can believe in Buddha, in Hare Krishna, Rabbi Nachman…But to believe in Jesus? There’s this red line that you can’t cross. Even if you don’t believe in God. It’s deep down in our DNA.
One day, I was in my room, and like when I was a kid when I’d shut the door get on my knees and thank the universe, I did it again, but this time, I knew I was talking to God who created the universe and that I had access to Him through Yeshua, the Messiah.
That moment…I just can’t explain what happened to me. I felt loved by God, with a love that I can’t explain. Something just washed over me, cleaned me out, and something new came in. From that moment, my life changed.
The whole Bible speaks of the coming of the Messiah, who would take upon Himself everything separating us from God, so we don’t have to try and reach Him in our own strength – it’s not possible. We’ll never be able to reach God, and we’ll never reach the bar He’s set.
I understood that something had happened to that kid who used to lie on the beach. Something had changed so that suddenly he wanted to do what God wanted. I was just a different person.
Watch & listen to Yoav’s story and share it with others.
