Archeologists uncovered a pillar near Jerusalem that has an inscription ‘Jerusalem’ that is the same way as we spell and pronounce it today ‘Yerushalaim’.
It is the first time we have an inscription of this sort from 2,000 years ago from the time of the Second Temple Period.
The site where the column was found about 4.5 miles from the Old City which would have been Jerusalem at that time.
We now know in a very simple manner that ‘Yerushalaim – Jerusalem – was called ‘Shalem’, ‘Yerushalem’ and ‘Yerushalaim’ at the same time which we ddnt know before. It’s just another piece of a mosaic of how we portray the past.
