Lech L’cha discipleship program has hit the trail, literally, and are now on the final three-week stretch of the 1000 km trek from the North of Israel all the way to the southern tip of Eilat. This program is the result of much prayer and preparation and has proven to challenge its participants and leaders both physically and spiritually.
What is the Israel National Trail?
We live in a day and age where technology and distractions are constantly vying for our attention and especially the attention and affection of young people. With the pressures that have increased in the world, the temptation is greater than ever to lose ourselves in an artificial reality. We believe, however, that it is precisely at such a time as this that the Lord is calling us to be still-drawing us closer to Himself and empowering us to embrace a greater level of trust in His love.
At Lech L’cha, we have been called by the Lord to create a space, in the midst of so many worries and distractions, where young people can sit at the feet of Yeshua and learn from Him. We hear God best when we are still–when distractions cease and we are in the quiet space of intimacy and closeness to Him, when our hearts stand in awe of who He is and are positioned to hear from His still, small voice.
The Israel National Trail is the perfect place to do just that. Nature is an amazing way to connect with the Lord. It speaks of His magnificence, His power, and His glory. The beauty we see in creation quiets our hearts and our minds so that we can hear our creator speaking–the voice of our beloved. As the beauty we experience invites us to be still, the rigors of the trail remind us of our need for God and of our complete dependance upon Him. It helps us to come face to face with who God is and who we are.
As we walk some of the same paths that Yeshua walked with His disciples so many years ago, we realize how blessed we are to be able to travel the land and study the Bible where it all happened. During our trek we have had many amazing quiet times with the Lord, been able to fellowship with local congregations and believers, and have been praying for our country to know Yeshua as their Savior. As we walk and pray the Lord has orchestrated many opportunities to share the Gospel.
The Israel National Trail attracts many who are on their own personal journeys of faith, making it the perfect place to connect with those who are open to God and whose hearts are in desperate need of a savior. It is our honor and privilege to share what Yeshua has done and is doing in our lives with those who are thirsty for Him, those the Lord is already calling to Himself and placing on our path.
One of the groups that the Lord placed on our path was of 13 young people in their early 20’s. They shared with us about how they are living together in a communal home studying different philosophies and religions. We were able to speak with them for over an hour and had many personal conversations about Yeshua. We are praying and believing that The Lord will cause these seeds, and others that have been planted along the way, to grow-in His perfect timing.
Many of you may not know this but the first ever Lech L’cha program was on the Israel National Trail. The program has changed shape from year to year, but always with the same goal of discipling young people to know and follow Yeshua for themselves, to serve in unity with other believers, and to be a light in a dark world.
With this in mind, we are so grateful and excited to be back on the Israel trail, as a program, seeing the lives of young people transformed for the glory of God.
How can I be involved?
If you are moved by what God is doing through Lech Lcha, please consider partnering with us through prayer and financial partnership.
First and foremost, we are looking for those who will partner with us in prayer. The power of prayer cannot be overstated. When we stand in unity before the Father, seeking His will, He responds in ways we never could have imagined.
In our last weeks of the trail, please pray specifically for safety from flooding in the desert region and continued opportunities to share the good news of Yeshua with those who are lost and searching.
If the Lord is stirring your heart to partner with us financially please follow this link.
We would LOVE to have you on our team.
