At the end of a recent online course we’re teaching, we did a closing round. So we waited on the L-rd for His highlight, asking Him to show us what He wanted us to take away from this meeting.
While waiting and listening, as that’s how we’ve learned to pray through LK10, the L-rd led me to John 4:35b – “Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.” And He emphasized the word white.
So I looked up λευκός – leukos – and found it means a brilliant or dazzling light. It’s the color of the garments of angels. It’s a sign of innocence and purity of the soul.
When Yeshua transfigured before His disciples, His garments became this color and the angels who told His disciples that He had risen from death were dressed in λευκός garments. This is also the color of the garments of the martyrs.
But the Scripture that really spoke to me was Revelations 3:5 – “He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”
Suddenly I had a picture of Yeshua looking with great compassion on the multitudes of people who don’t yet know and follow Him. We may tend to view these lost ones as poor, wretched souls but that’s not how the L-rd sees them. He sees the potential harvest dressed in brilliant, dazzling white garments. And suddenly I understood that this is how we need to view the coming harvest – with great hope and expectation. And once again the L-rd gave me a paradigm shift as I understood that His thoughts are way higher than mine.
G-d still speaks today if only we would listen. Since He already knows what we need, instead of presenting Him with a list, we simply ask Him to show us what He wants us to see or know about a certain situation. We believe very strongly that in the coming days we need to be able to discern the voice of the L-rd for His truth and for clarity of direction.
