You are the light of the world! It’s amazing when we hear or read this verse and consider what Yeshua was saying to us.
Two thousand years ago God sent his son into the world. His precious children were lost in a sea of darkness and sin. The original fall of Adam and Eve had spread like a cancer throughout his creation. In the Garden, they hid from the loving presence of God and that fear and separation infected all of humanity.
The love that God has for each of us is beyond our understanding. We were separated from him and an enemy of God but his love never failed nor did frustration and anger take dominance over that love. And in the fullness of time our Father in Heaven sent his beloved son to make a way for us to return to him.
The light came into the world. Yeshua’s presence lit up the darkness and his life changed those who turned to him.
And then at the young age of 33, Yeshua gave his life for us. It was not a corporate impersonal deed, but rather as the scripture declares; “For the joy set before him, he endured the cross”. I believe that if you were the only one who ever received his life and forgiveness, if you were the only one in all the earth who believed in him, Yeshua would have still gone to the cross. His sacrifice was not about numbers but about you. He saw you, your hopeless state and in incredible love, he died so that you could live.
And after this history changing event, he rose from the dead and ascended to heaven to be with his Father. And at that moment, as the light of the world left this earth, God entered into a partnership with us and called us to be the “light of the world”. We do not have his light naturally, but to each one of us who believe, who have been Immersed and filled with the Holy Spirit, his life and light shines from within us.
It is now his call to every one of us to be the “light of the world”. We need to go forth each day with a heart burning to pour his life and light upon the unsaved. We are to shine forth in front of the lost. We are to make a connection with them in love and at some point and in some way let them hear that it is the love of Yeshua that they are encountering.
There is no higher calling than to be the “light of the world”. At great cost, he gave us his life and the fullness of God lives in us. It is my heart’s cry to all of us that we would let God amplify this word in our heart.
Tomorrow or even today, as you go out into the world, don’t look for the opportunity but rather use the opportunities that open before you and be that light to a dying world. You will encounter the unsaved as you live your life. Be bold and step out in faith. As you reach out to touch the lost, his life will pour from you, his power will be released and you will be a tool in God’s hand.
One plants, another waters…God will bring the increase.
We at Zion’s Glory encourage you to take this bold step of faith. We’re doing it every day. We are shining forth with his love and light and the lost are hearing. We have spoken to hundreds, prayed for so many and we have seen wonderful results.
And today we pass this calling on to you. Step out. Be the light. God will be pleased and you will be blessed beyond what you can imagine.
One final good report. I received the results of an MRI that I underwent last week and my brain and throat are healthy! “By His stripes I was healed” (Isaiah 53:5) and “this affliction shall not return a second time.”(Nahum 1:9)
